The Internet's 1st Salary Cap Page That is Devoted to One Team

DISCLAIMER:

I will NOT pretend that this information will be 100% correct. The information on this site can ONLY be as accurate as the press reports that the information comes from.

Welcome to the first website that was focused on covering a NFL team's salary cap.

I would like to thank Pats39, Peachhead, Jim S, Chris Matthews "CJ", Ian Logue, Andrew Brecher, Jocelyn Robichaud, Naren99, Ickster, dscotts, Ralmat55, PatsFanKen, Urgent, Hurricane1, Norman Trudel, the Homers, Ed Bryant, David Tremblay, Steve Haggett, JDSal45, Paul Dalrymple, DaBruinz, Patriots569, MoLewisRocks, PromisedLand, David Gallagher, Curt Manash, Deus Irae and persons who ask to remain nameless. Each of them have in their own way provided invaluable assistance and guidance. Please note that NONE of them are responsible for errors on this page.

Please note that Paul Katcher of Time Magazine called this page "by far the weirdest site I came across while researching this guide" in his listing of Essential bookmarks for the true football fan. and that on Page 4 of the September 3, 2001 issue of Time Magazine this page is referred to as "informed analysis of the Patriots' salary-cap problems."

DraftDaddy.Com labeled this page as "perhaps the most complete single team salary cap page on the web".
SportsRetort.Com labels this page as "an amazing resource; ideally, every team would have such a page devoted to it."
Bill Barnwell in a guest column on FootballOutsiders.Com called this page "excellent".
The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss opined this in of his mailbags - "As for the best source for the most complete and accurate salary cap and contract information, I recommend patscap.com. It is put together by a devoted Patriots fan named Miguel. While he acknowledges the numbers aren't 100 percent accurate because they are culled together from various published reports, he is very detailed and the site is unlike any other I've seen."

As of March 2nd the Patriots have a total of $149,021,481 in total cap commitments using the Top 51 rule ($155,486,481 total). $143,537,995 is devoted to 65 signed or tendered players. The Patriots have $5,483,486 in dead money. $143,537,995 + $5,483,486 = $149,021,481. I am projecting that the Patriots will make tender offers to all 5 ERFAs. The 2015 League cap is $143.28 million. The Patriots 2015 adjusted cap number is $144,578,554. $143,280,000 (League Cap) + $5,442,054 (2014 Ending Cap Space + $1,184,000 Aaron Hernandez salary grievance credit - $5,143,970 (LTBE/NLTBE adjustment) = $144,578,554. $149,021,481 minus $144,578,554 = $(4,443,397) overage. Why does my numbers does not match reports of a $15 million overage. Those reports are looking at the NFLPA site and are not aware that it is not using the rule of 51.

Please note that by clicking on the player's name you will be brought to the supporting documentation for his cap figure. The cap savings column is a net savings after the rule of 51 is applied. When a player in the Top 51 is cut, his spot is taken up by another player. Example - player has a 2015 cap hit of $1,000,000 which is all salary. He is released. A player with a $510,000 salary takes his place. Net savings - $490,000. The Rule of 51 also works when a player is added to the roster. Example - Patriots sign a UFA who has a 2015 cap cap of $2,000,000. His net cap cost to the Patriots is $1,490,000 as he will displace a player with a $510,000 salary from the Top 51 list.

How to Read This Table

First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 12, 2015.

How to Read This Table
First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 10, 2015.
All of the below players are NOT currently among the Top 51 list, therefore their salaries do NOT count against the cap at this present moment and their current cap figures only include roster bonuses(if any), prorated portion of their signing bonus, LTBE incentives, and offseason workout bonus. For example, Jonas Gray's $510,000 salary currently does not count against the 2015 cap because right now since he is not among the Top 51 highest paid players.
