Please note that Paul Katcher of Time Magazine called this page "by far the weirdest site I came across while researching this guide" in his listing of Essential bookmarks for the true football fan. and that on Page 4 of the September 3, 2001 issue of Time Magazine this page is referred to as "informed analysis of the Patriots' salary-cap problems."

DraftDaddy.Com labeled this page as "perhaps the most complete single team salary cap page on the web".
SportsRetort.Com labels this page as "an amazing resource; ideally, every team would have such a page devoted to it."
Bill Barnwell in a guest column on FootballOutsiders.Com called this page "excellent".
The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss opined this in of his mailbags - "As for the best source for the most complete and accurate salary cap and contract information, I recommend patscap.com. It is put together by a devoted Patriots fan named Miguel. While he acknowledges the numbers aren't 100 percent accurate because they are culled together from various published reports, he is very detailed and the site is unlike any other I've seen."

According to my figures the Patriots' 2013 cap figure is for $113,124,225 with 69 (68 active, 0 on Injured Reserve, 1 on Reserve/Non-NFI) players. I now believe that reserve players like Brian Waters do not count against the cap. I have the Patriots' 2013 dead money at $6,644,196. $113,124,225 + $6,644,196 = $119,768,421. The cap limit for the 2013 season is $123 million. The Patriots' adjusted cap number is $129,656,344. Therefore, I have the Patriots under their adjusted cap limit by about $9.9 million. According to the NFLPA the Patriots are under the cap by $8,719,937 so my numbers are off by $1.2 million. Why do I think that my numbers are off? I believe that one or more Patriots have unreported incentives hitting the cap.

  1. On March 20th updated the cap numbers for Jake Bequette, Jake Ballard, and Mike Rivera.
  2. On Martch 25th added Niko Koutouvides and Marquice Cole.
  3. On March 27th added Sebastian Vollmer
  4. On April 1st added Michael Jenkins.
  5. So that my numbers can better match up with the NFLPA's I am now including $504,000 (80 players * 36 workouts * $175 daily compensation) in my numbers. I am doing so based on my intrepreation of this section in the CBA - "Beginning on the first day of the League Year, each Club's Team Salary will be charged an amount that is calculated as follows: multiply the minimum daily amount set forth in Article 21, Section 3 ($155 for the 2011 League Year) by 2,880 (80 players x 4 days/week x 9 weeks = 2,880) . At the conclusion of the program, this charge will be adjusted based upon the amounts actually paid to players who participated in the offseason program. At that time, the amount paid to each player will be charged to Salary and Team Salary, and the original charge set forth in the first sentence of this Subsection shall be removed from Team Salary. In addition to these amounts, any incentives in Player Contracts related to offseason workouts shall be included in Team Salary pursuant to Section 6 (c) (iii) below"
  6. On April 10 added Tommie Kelly and Emanuel Sanders.
  7. On April 11th corrected the cap numbers for Ballard, Bequette, McCourty, Amendola, and McDonald.
  8. On Apri 11th added Julian Edelman
  9. On On April 12th updated Gronk's numbers. Learned that his 2014 workout bonus was fully guaranteed. Also updated Jerod Mayo's cap number. Now believe that Mayo has a $300,000 LTBE Pro Bowl incentive.
  10. Removed Emmanuel Sanders
  11. Updated the offseason workout bonus money numbers for Nick McDonald, Mike Rivera, and Jake Bequette.
  12. Removed Myron Pryor after his release on April 18th.

How to Read This Table
First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 12, 2013. I presume that the Patriots will pick up the player's 2013 option bonus so I include the option bonus proration in the total cap amount but until March 12 I do not include the option bonus in the Remaining Signing Bonus amount.
Please note that for some players not all of the listed numbers will add up to their reported cap number.

How to Read This Table
First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 12, 2013.
All of the below players are NOT currently among the Top 51 list, therefore their salaries do NOT count against the cap at this present moment and their current cap figures only include roster bonuses(if any), prorated portion of their signing bonus, LTBE incentives, and offseason workout bonus. For example, Armond Arstead's $405,000 salary currently does not count against the cap because right now since he is not among the Top 51 highest paid players.
