Please note that Paul Katcher of Time Magazine called this page "by far the weirdest site I came across while researching this guide" in his listing of Essential bookmarks for the true football fan. and that on Page 4 of the September 3, 2001 issue of Time Magazine this page is referred to as "informed analysis of the Patriots' salary-cap problems."

DraftDaddy.Com labeled this page as "perhaps the most complete single team salary cap page on the web".
SportsRetort.Com labels this page as "an amazing resource; ideally, every team would have such a page devoted to it."
Bill Barnwell in a guest column on FootballOutsiders.Com called this page "excellent".
The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss opined this in of his mailbags - "As for the best source for the most complete and accurate salary cap and contract information, I recommend patscap.com. It is put together by a devoted Patriots fan named Miguel. While he acknowledges the numbers aren't 100 percent accurate because they are culled together from various published reports, he is very detailed and the site is unlike any other I've seen."

According to my figures the Patriots' 2014 current commitment is for $114,624,410 with 55 players. I have the Patriots' 2014 dead money as $5,683,721. $114,624,410 + $5,683,721 = $120,308,131. The 2014 projected cap is $126.3 milion so the Pats are under it by about $6 million. Please see bottom of page for my guesstimate on the Patriots' 2014 adjusted cap number.

DISCLAIMERS - My numbers are a snapshot in time. Things will change between the as of date and a future date.

The 50 most recent changes to this page

  1. On January 1st updated the cap numbers and documentation for Rob Ninkovich since he reached his 75% playing-time incentive for 2014.
  2. On December 29th updated the cap numbers and documentation for Danny Amendola since he played in 12 games in 2013 increasing his LTBE per-game roster bonus from 11 games to 12 games increasing his roster bonus amount from $343,750 to $375,000.
  3. On December 27th added Justin Green and Kanorris Davis.
  4. On December 18th updated the cap numbers and documentation for Sebastian Vollmer since it is apparent that he will not trigger his 2013 playing-time incentives that would have earned him a 1 million roster bonus and a 1 million LTBE playing-time incentive.
  5. On December 13th updated the cap numbers and documentation for Isaac Sopoaga since it is apparent that he will trigger his 2014 salary de-escalator lowering his salary from $3,750,000 to $3,500,000. Sopoaga has to play in 50% of the defensive snaps. His current percentage is 35.7%. In order to reach 50% he would have to play every defensive snap in the Patriots' last 3 games.
  6. On December 11th updated the cap numbers and documentation for Tommy Kelly.
  7. On October 18th updated the cap numbers and documentation for Jerod Mayo.
  8. On September 22nd added the $1.35 million credit for Fanene.
  9. Created this page on July 6th.
  10. Removed Donald Jones on July 21st.
  11. On July 31st removed Perez Ashford. Added Scott Vallone. Moved Lavelle Hawksins to the dead money section.

Please note that by clicking on the player's name you will be brought to the supporting documentation for his cap figure. The cap savings column is a net savings after the rule of 51 is applied. When a player in the Top 51 is cut, his spot is taken up by another player. Example - player has a 2014 cap of 1,000,000 which is all salary. He is released. A player with a $495,000 salary takes his place. Net savings - $505,000

How to Read This Table
First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 12, 2017.
Please note that for some players not all of the listed numbers will add up to their reported cap number.

How to Read This Table
First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 12, 2014.
All of the below players are NOT currently among the Top 51 list, therefore their salaries do NOT count against the cap at this present moment and their current cap figures only include roster bonuses(if any), prorated portion of their signing bonus, LTBE incentives, and offseason workout bonus. For example, Mark Harrison's $420,000 salary currently does not count against the 2014 cap because right now since he is not among the Top 51 highest paid players.

TEAM SALARY CAP BREAKDOWN

As I mentioned above, I have the 2014 Patriots' current cap number as $120,308,131. The following factors will change that:

Albert Breer reported that teams have been told that the 2014 cap will be $126.3 million. Actual number to be finalized late February/early March.

NFL CAP + Total adjustments+2013 carryover = 2014 adjusted cap number of 131,435,137
Right now, I have the Patriots 2014 cap commitments as $120,308,381
I expect the following to happen which will increase that number

After the five occur, the cap commitment total is 124,447,131. 2014 adjusted cap number of 131,435,137 minus cap commitment of $124,447,131 equals 6,958,006 in cap space with 63 signed or tendered players. This cap space number is before redoing the deals of the players already signed for the 2014 season, releasing any signed players, or signing any UFAs.

NFL Minimum Salary Levels for the 2014 season

Rookie - $420,000
1 Credited Season - $495,000
2 Credited Seasons - $570,000
3 Credited Seasons - $645,000
4 to 6 Credited Seasons - $730,000 *
7 to 9 Credited Seasons - $855,000 *
10+ Credited Seasons - $955,000 *

*All salaries for players with four or more years of experience AND who sign contracts that qualify for veteran's exemption will only count $555,000 (the minimum salary of a player with two credited seasons) against teams' salary caps.
