On March 3, 2016 Sealver Siliga posted on his Instagram page
“First off I would like to thank Mr. Kraft for the opportunity to play in New England. It was a pleasure playing for such a great organization! I will always have the up most respect for the New England #Patriots. I Was so blessed to have won Super Bowl XLIX with some great men and spend 3 fantastic years in the Boro! Thank you Patriots for showing me how it gets done! Will always have love for coach Belichick and Matty P and the rest of the coaching staff. Excited for the next journey of Free Agency on March 9:”

Sealver Siliga was scheduled to become a restricted free agent at 4PM March 9th. The RFA tender amount is $1.671 amount. One can safely infer from Silgia’ post that the Patriots are not only not tendering him a RFA tender offer but they also did not want to sign him to a deal at a much lower salary.

As an untendered restricted free agent Sealver Siliga will become a street free agent at 4:01 PM, March 9th. If he were to sign elsewhere the Patriots would not receive any compensation this year or next. Untendered RFAs are not part of the compensatory pick calculation.

Since Siliga wwas not signed for the 2016 season this does not change the Patriots 2016 cap number at all. Before his post Siliga was not counting against the 2016 cap. After his tweet he will continue not being counted against it.

Sealver Siliga was surpassed by Akiem Hicks on the depth chart during the 2015 season.

Malcom Brown, Dominique Easley, Chris Jones, Alan Branch, Ishmaa’ily Kitchen, and Joe Vellano are the current defensive tackles on the Patriots 2016 roster. Akiem Hicks is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.

James Develin, Kevin Hughes and LaAdrian Waddle are the 2015 Patriots scheduled to become RFAs at 4PM March 9th.
