On February 5, 2017 NFL.Com’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that “In their long-term planning, #Patriots believe QB Tom Brady will play 3-5 more years, sources say. That’s why trading Jimmy G is possible” and that “Patriots will look to extend QB Tom Brady next offseason, source says. Clear indication they believe his proclamation to play into his 40s.”
Tom Brady, the fifth oldest player in the NFL, is 39 years old and just completed the greatest season ever for a 39-year old quarterback. Tom Brady who will turn 40 on August 3rd is signed through the 2019 season.
His 2017 cap number of $14,000,000 consists of
* $1 million salary
* $6 million proration of his 2013 signing bonus
* $7 million proration of his 2016 signing bonus
His 2018 cap number of $22,000,000 consists of
* $14 million salary
* $1 million in 46-man active roster bonuses ($62,500 per game)
